The Crime Mag is back with another ‘Graphic Look Inside’. This time, we take a look inside the Jeffrey Dresser Drawer. A true crime addict who spent 33 years in prison for the kidnap and rape of 8 women. His last victim was Karen Bovin, who he raped and held hostage for 13 days before she managed to escape from his Birmingham home in 1985.
The First Crime That Got Dresser Locked Up
In 1992, Jeffrey Dresser was convicted of armed robbery and sentenced to 8 years in prison. This was the first crime that got Dresser locked up, but it certainly wasn’t the last. Over the next 25 years, Dresser would be convicted of a total of 16 felonies, including burglary, theft, and drug possession.
Dresser’s criminal career began when he was just 17 years old. He and a friend decided to rob a convenience store at gunpoint. They made off with around $200, but were quickly caught by the police. Dresser’s accomplice was let off with a warning, but Dresser was charged with armed robbery and sent to prison.
Despite his lengthy rap sheet, Dresser has never been convicted of a violent crime. In fact, most of his crimes have been relatively minor in nature. But because of his prior convictions, each new offense carries a heavier sentence. As a result, Dresser has spent more than half his life behind bars.
At age 42, Dresser is now eligible for parole. But after so many years of incarceration, it’s unclear if he’ll be able to adjust to life on the outside.
In 1993, Jeffrey Dresser was convicted of his first crime: burglary. He was sentenced to five years in prison, but only served two and a half years before being released on parole. However, this would not be the last time Dresser would find himself behind bars.
Dresser’s second conviction came just a few years later, in 1996, for grand theft auto. Once again, he was given a five-year sentence, but this time he served the full term.
It wasn’t until 2000 that Dresser was finally arrested for the crime that would put him away for good: murder. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole and has been incarcerated ever since.
Dresser was first arrested when he was 15 years old for stealing a car. He spent time in juvenile detention and then, when he was 18, was sentenced to three years in prison for grand theft auto. It was during his time in prison that Dresser began to develop his criminal enterprise, which would eventually lead to him becoming one of the most prolific thieves in America.
Prison Life
Incarceration is a tough experience for anyone, but especially for those who are used to living a life of luxury. Jeffrey Dahmer, one of America’s most notorious serial killers, found this out the hard way when he was sentenced to life in prison.
Dahmer was initially incarcerated at the Columbia Correctional Institution in Wisconsin. He was kept in solitary confinement for his own safety due to the high-profile nature of his crimes. Dahmer adjusted to prison life relatively well and even made some friends among the other inmates.
However, things took a turn for the worse when Dahmer was transferred to the Oshkosh Correctional Institution. This facility was much more violent and dangerous than Columbia, and Dahmer quickly became a target for other inmates. He was constantly harassed and beaten up, and even had boiling water poured on him while he slept.
After just two years at Oshkosh, Dahmer was transferred back to Columbia. This time, he was placed in protective custody which meant he was kept isolated from the general population. While this made him safer from physical harm, it took a toll on his mental health. Dahmer became increasingly depressed and withdrawn, and eventually committed suicide in 1994 by hanging himself in his cell.
Prison life is not easy. It is often monotonous, with little to do except eat, sleep, and exercise. The days are long and the nights are even longer. There is little privacy, and inmates must endure the constant presence of guards and other prisoners.
The conditions in prison are often cramped and dirty. Cells are small and often overcrowded. Toilets are frequently overflowing, and there is little ventilation. Many prisoners suffer from health problems as a result of the poor conditions.
Violence is also a part of prison life. Inmates may be attacked by other prisoners or by guards. They may be forced to participate in fights or may be raped. Prisoners must constantly be on their guard in order to stay safe.
Despite the challenges, some prisoners find ways to make the best of their situation. They form friendships with other inmates and find ways to occupy their time. They may even find meaning in their lives by helping others who are struggling.
A Fight with Other Prisoners
Other prisoners in the jail regularly fought with each other. Fights typically broke out over small things like someone taking another prisoner’s food or property. The prisoners would use their fists, feet, and whatever else they could to hurt each other.
The guards usually did not intervene in these fights unless it looked like one of the prisoners was going to seriously hurt or kill another. Even then, the guards would only break up the fight and would not punish the prisoners involved.
The prison staff did not see these fights as a big deal and often ignored them. This attitude changed when Jeffrey Dresser got into a fight with another prisoner.
Jeffrey Dresser was involved in a physical altercation with other prisoners on August 27th. The incident began when Dresser made a comment about another inmate’s mother. The two argued and things quickly escalated, resulting in a full-blown fight.
Dresser was outnumbered and outmatched, but he didn’t go down without a fight. He managed to land a few punches before he was finally subdued by the other prisoners. He was left with a black eye and several bruises, but thankfully no serious injuries.
This wasn’t the first time that Jeffrey Dresser had gotten into a physical altercation with another prisoner, and it probably won’t be the last. But it does serve as a reminder of the dangers of prison life and the importance of always being on your guard.
How Dresser Became a Millionaire (And Got Caught)
In the early 1990s, Jeffrey Dresser was working as a stockbroker on Wall Street. He was earning a good living, but he wanted more. So, he began using inside information to make trades that earned him millions of dollars.
For years, Dresser got away with his scheme. But eventually, the SEC caught wind of what he was doing and brought charges against him. In 2009, Dresser was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
In the early 1990s, Jeffrey Dresser was a young, up-and-coming businessman with a bright future. He had started his own company, Dresser Drawers, and was quickly making a name for himself in the furniture industry. By the mid-1990s, Dresser’s company was grossing over $1 million in sales each year.
However, what most people didn’t know about Jeffrey Dresser was that he was also running a criminal enterprise out of his furniture company. Dresser was using his business as a front to smuggle drugs and other contraband into the United States from Mexico. He would hide the illegal goods in the dresser drawers that he shipped across the border.
Dresser’s smuggling operation was eventually uncovered by authorities and he was arrested. He pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking charges and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. However, even after serving his time behind bars, Dresser has still managed to amass a fortune. Today, he is estimated to be worth over $30 million.
Freedom Will Be His Mission
As Jeffrey Dresser drawer begins his sentence for the crime of armed robbery, he knows that his mission is to gain freedom. He is determined to do whatever it takes to get out of prison and live a normal life again.
To achieve this goal, Jeffrey will need to be disciplined and stay focused on his plan. He’ll need to stay away from any negative influences, including other inmates who might try to drag him down. He’ll also have to make the most of any opportunities that come his way, whether it’s getting an education or learning a new trade.
It won’t be easy, but Jeffrey is prepared to do whatever it takes. He knows that his future depends on it.
Jeffrey Dresser’s crime was brutally murdering his wife and children. He is now on death row, awaiting execution. But, even in prison, he is still a free man.
Dresser has been writing a blog from prison, called “The Free Man’s Journal.” In it, he writes about his life on death row and his thoughts on freedom.
“Freedom will be my mission,” he writes in one entry. “I will not let them take that away from me, no matter what they do to me.”
In another entry, Dresser talks about how he thinks about his victims every day and how much he regrets what he did. But, he says, he would do it again if it meant he could be free.
“I know that I can never make up for what I’ve done,” he writes. “But maybe, by fighting for my own freedom, I can help make sure that others don’t have to go through what I’ve gone through.”
